Architecture Inspired by World-Class Finnish Design
AITO Sauna draws inspiration from one of the most famous sauna destinations in the world — Löyly Sauna in Helsinki.
Since opening in 2016, Löyly has become an architectural icon and a cultural landmark. It was named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Greatest Places in the World” and has received numerous international design awards including the Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Award and the IOC IAKS Award Silver.
Designed by Avanto Architects, the striking wooden structure is built from over 4,000 precisely cut planks of heat-treated Finnish pine. Its sculptural form reflects the deep connection between Finnish sauna culture, nature, and modern design.
One of the founders of Löyly is internationally recognized Finnish actor Jasper Pääkkönen, known for his roles in the global television series Vikings and the Oscar-winning film BlacKkKlansman. Through Löyly, he has helped bring Finnish sauna culture to an international audience.
The Heritage of Finnish Sauna Culture
The sauna is one of the most important traditions in Finnish life. For thousands of years, it has been a place for relaxation, reflection, and restoration. Historically, saunas were the warmest and most sacred space in the home — where families gathered, important life events took place, and people found both physical and mental renewal.
Today Finland has over 3 million saunas for a population of just 5.5 million people, demonstrating how deeply sauna culture is embedded in everyday life. In recognition of this cultural significance, Finnish sauna culture was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020.
The benefits of sauna bathing are also widely supported by scientific research. Regular sauna use can improve cardiovascular health, enhance circulation, support recovery, promote relaxation, and significantly reduce stress. As the body warms in the sauna, blood flow increases, muscles relax, and the body enters a natural state of restoration — similar to the effects of mild physical exercise.

While saunas are built all over the world, many are poorly designed — with incorrect ventilation, improper seating heights, or inefficient heater placement.
In Finland, sauna design is treated with the utmost seriousness. A properly designed sauna ensures even heat distribution, optimal air circulation, and the perfect sitting height, allowing the entire body to experience the warmth of the sauna evenly.
AITO saunas are designed by Finnish sauna experts to deliver the true Finnish “löyly” — the gentle and enveloping steam created when water meets heated stones.
Every AITO sauna features a premium IKI electric sauna heater, handcrafted in Finland. IKI heaters are globally recognized for their safety, durability, and their ability to produce some of the finest sauna heat in the world.
Built from Finnish Wood and Natural Materials
AITO saunas are constructed using cross-laminated timber (CLT) made from 100% Finnish spruce.
CLT is an exceptionally durable and environmentally responsible building material. Mass timber structures act as carbon sinks, making them both sustainable and resilient in various climates and weather conditions.
Natural wood, proper insulation, and carefully designed ventilation ensure that the sauna environment remains healthy, comfortable, and long-lasting.

Delivered Fully Assembled — True Plug-and-Play Sauna
AITO saunas are designed for simplicity and flexibility.
Each sauna is a completely pre-built, free-standing structure that requires no construction, foundations, or groundworks from the customer. The sauna is delivered fully assembled and ready to use.
The structure can be placed on a prepared platform or flat surface, making installation straightforward in a wide variety of locations — including private homes, residential developments, hotels, wellness centers, and outdoor environments.
Every AITO sauna includes:
• A fully integrated electrical system (single-phase or three-phase connection)
• Built-in water connection for shower functionality
• Adjustable feet for uneven surfaces
• Premium Finnish IKI sauna heater
• WiFi-enabled remote control system
The sauna can also be lifted and positioned using a crane or forklift, allowing for easy placement even in unique locations such as rooftops or terraces.
